At least 18 people have been killed and many injured in Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian enclave's civil protection agency announced today.
Ten people died after a strike hit the home of the Al-Kassa family in the center of the Nuseirat refugee camp in the central part of the Gaza Strip, said a doctor at Al-Awda Hospital where the bodies were taken.
The civil protection agency confirmed the death toll in this strike to 10, adding that another 6 Palestinians were killed in an airstrike on a house belonging to the Bassal family in the Zeitoun neighborhood in the southern part of Gaza City.
The district has been a frequent target of Israeli military operations since the start of the war, which was triggered on October 7 by an unprecedented attack by militants of the Islamist Palestinian movement Hamas on Israeli soil.
Two people were also killed in an airstrike on the home of the Abu Saar family in Rafah, on the southern edge of the Gaza Strip, according to the civil protection service of the Palestinian enclave, which is controlled by Hamas.
Its militants' October 7 attack on Israel killed 1,205 people on the Israeli side, most of them civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli figures.
251 hostages were also captured in this attack, of which 97 remain in the hands of Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Of these, 33 have been declared dead by the Israeli army.
