Spain: Picasso painting disappeared during transport to Granada

It is an oil painting whose value is estimated at 600,000 euros

Spanish police have launched an investigation after a painting by Pablo Picasso disappeared during its transport from Madrid to Granada, where it was to be exhibited, as was announced today by police sources.

These sources were not able to provide further details about this incredible case.

According to local media in Granada, a city in southern Spain, the painting “Still Life with Guitar”, painted by Picasso in the early 20th century, was to be exhibited next week at the Caja Granada Foundation.

The organizers clarified that all the works that would be presented come from private collections.

The high value of Picasso's works makes them a frequent target for theft. In 1976, more than 100 paintings by the Spanish painter were stolen from Avignon, France, but they have all been recovered.

Picasso, who was born in 1881 in Malaga, southern Spain, and died in 1973 in France, was a prolific painter.
