The ousted president of Syria has been in Moscow since yesterday Sunday.
The Kremlin spokesman called the decision to grant asylum to Bashar al-Assad and his family a personal decision of Putin.
Dmitry Peskov confirmed the information about Putin's intervention, revealing that there has been no meeting between the two men and there is no plan to take place.
At the same time, Peskov, responding to related questions, characterized the discussion on the remaining of the two large Russian bases in Syria as too premature.
"That is something that will be discussed in the future."
At another point he stated that the events in Syria surprised the Russian authorities as well, as happened with the rest of the planet.
