Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Tehran on Monday against further “provocative actions” after it intercepted a missile fired from Iran into Turkish airspace.
NATO air defense systems in the eastern Mediterranean shot down a second ballistic missile launched from Iran that entered Turkish airspace, the Turkish Defense Ministry said. Fragments of the missile fell in fields in Gaziantep, the ministry said.
“Despite our clear warnings, extremely inappropriate and provocative actions continue to be taken, endangering Turkey’s friendship” with Iran, Erdogan said.
Last week, another missile launched from Iran and headed towards Turkish airspace was intercepted by NATO defense systems stationed in the eastern Mediterranean.
The situation in the Middle East is chaotic.
As it seems, Turkey is taking a stand against Iran, perhaps because the US-Israeli alliance seems invincible at the moment in Ankara's eyes.
