Russian wrestler Bozhigit Islamgereev pulled off an unimaginable move at the U23 European Championships that sent the world into a frenzy!

In the quarterfinals of the 86kg freestyle at the 2026 U23 European Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Russian athlete Bozhigit Islamgereev, Olympic silver medalist at the U20 World Championships, stunned his French opponent Rakhim Magamadov with a last-minute “flying squirrel” move, securing a 10-8 victory.


Magamadov, a Russian-born athlete representing France and current world and European youth champion, was stunned by the stunning acrobatic move that marked a major upset.

Islamgariev advanced to the semifinals with a 3-2 win over Vasif Kudiyev of Azerbaijan, which led him to the gold medal final against Ahmet Yagan of Turkey and highlights Russia's strong tradition in freestyle wrestling at the youth level.
