Djokovic proved his greatness again after his defeat in China

The great Novak Djokovic may have unexpectedly lost in the semifinals of the Shanghai Masters in China to 26-year-old Valentin Vassero, but he once again proved his greatness, which makes him the top player in world tennis.

The 38-year-old “Nole” faced some physical difficulties during the match, but what was impressive was that after the defeat he did not start to justify himself, but with the kindness and respect that characterizes him, he said the best words about his opponent.

“I want to congratulate Valentin for reaching his first Masters final,” the 24-time major champion said in the post-match press conference. “From the qualifiers, it’s an amazing story.

“I told him on the internet that he had an amazing tournament, but more importantly his attitude is very good and his game was amazing as well.”

“So it’s all about him. I wish him all the best in the finals, and the best player won today."

Vacherot defeated Djokovic in straight sets to become the lowest-ranked player ever to reach an ATP Masters 1000 final.

Djokovic was visibly uncomfortable throughout the match, limping and grimacing between points. He even took an extended timeout towards the end of the first set and called for a physiotherapist, which required medical treatment for his back.

He eventually continued, but was unable to find a way back into the match after Vacherot took the first set.
