Serie A – Bernardeschi: If I were gay I would be proud

Bologna's Federico Bernardeschi has been the target of criticism many times for the clothes he chooses to wear or the color he dyes his hair, so he decided to take a stand on the issue, supporting those footballers who have declared themselves gay.

After his time in the US Championship, the Italian ace, formerly of Fiorentina and Juventus, decided to return to Serie A to wear the Bologna jersey. No one in Italy has a problem with this, but many have a problem with the clothes he wears and are considered eccentric or with the colors he chooses to dye his hair.

A situation that has probably tired Bernardeschi, who decided to respond to all of them with what he emphasized in an interview he gave.

"If I like a skirt, I wear it. Do you know how many times people have told me that I'm gay? What if I was? Is there a problem with that? What is the problem? I would be proud. Congratulations and respect to those who have spoken openly about their sexual preferences,” the Italian footballer initially said and continued.

“People need to understand that on this planet everyone should be free to do whatever they want. And we always have to ask ourselves: Is the opinion of others so important in our lives? Because if I hurt my daughter or my partner, that, yes, is a problem. But what people say is not and should not be a problem.”
