US President Donald Trump has suggested that Hamas has received approval for its policing operations in the Gaza Strip, saying the Palestinian group wants to “stop the trouble” and explaining that it has received “approval” for its actions.
Hamas, which under Trump’s peace plan must disarm and cease playing any role in governing Gaza, deployed internal security forces to some areas of the Palestinian enclave on Friday after the ceasefire came into effect, explaining that its goal is to prevent looting and lawlessness and to ensure that there is no security vacuum.
When asked by reporters accompanying him on the presidential plane if Hamas is institutionalizing itself as a police force and shooting its opponents, Trump replied that “they want to stop the problems (…) they were clear about that and we gave them our approval for a while”.
As can be understood, each organization plays a specific role in a certain area and when big interests dictate something, then that something must be done.
If someone escapes within the framework, then they are leveled and if they comply, they are given back “powers”.
The Hamas Interior Ministry issued a statement yesterday, Sunday, offering amnesty to those who joined illegal gangs that stole humanitarian aid and looted, provided that they have not been involved in bloodshed.
Hamas forces killed 32 members of a “gang” in Gaza City in a so-called security operation that began after a ceasefire went into effect on Friday, with six of its members also killed in the violence, a Palestinian security source said today.
The official said the security operation in Gaza City had targeted a “dangerous gang linked to a family in Gaza City.” The operation had led to the arrest of 24 people and the wounding of 30 others, the official said.
So Hamas, while fighting Israel, is now imposing order on its own compatriots.
This is the policy these days…
