Three men in Finland have been arrested on suspicion of joining the Islamic State

Three men were arrested and remanded in custody on September 13 in Finland on suspicion of involvement in the activities of the Islamic State jihadist group , police said.

All three are aged around 30, are not originally from Finland and are being held in Helsinki . IS is considered a terrorist organization in Finland.

Mikko Salminen, a police officer with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), declined to elaborate on the charges against the three suspects but said the crime they committed was "not at all common" in the country.

However, there is no evidence that the three men were planning any terrorist attack in Finland. The offenses were likely committed between 2023-24, but the exact timeline is yet to be determined, police added.
