Putin calls for 'rapid de-escalation' in talks with Iranian president

Russian President Vladimir Putin called for a “rapid de-escalation” in the Middle East war in a phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Massoud Peskov, on Tuesday, a day after he spoke with U.S. President Donald Trump on the same issue, the Kremlin said.

“The Russian president reiterated the principled position in favor of a rapid de-escalation” and a political solution to the issue, the Kremlin said.

Peskov thanked Putin “for his support, and especially for the humanitarian assistance” he is providing to Iran.
