A supertanker carrying two million barrels of Iranian oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. It is at least the fifth tanker to pass through the seaway, bound for Asia, since February 28, according to data from merchant ship tracking and monitoring websites.
Analysis by Lloyd's List Intelligence and Kpler shows that the Guyana-flagged Cuma, which has been sanctioned by the United States, passed through Hormuz on March 9 and is listed as bound for China.
Iran has also sent cargoes of gas and petroleum products through Hormuz since the Israeli and US strikes on its territory began. At least 11 million barrels of crude, in addition to today's cargo, have been exported since that day, according to estimates.
